Short Bio
Isaac Butler (b. 2004) is a composer, producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist from Grayson County, Kentucky. His works have received wide acclaim and commisions from a variety of ensembles and musicians all over the world. Isaac is also an accomplished songwriter, his song “I Hope I’m still on your Mind” has received critical acclaim and airtime on radio stations from the United States to New Zealand. Isaac is a Junior at the University of Louisville pursuing a bachelor's degree in Music and New Media and has studied composition under Dr. Marc Satterwhite, Dr. Yunze Mu and Proffessor William Lampkin. He is a proud member of the Univerity of Louisville Colligiate Chorale, Singing Cardsmen, and Cardinal Singers.
Long Bio
Described as "uplifting" (The Louisville Cardinal) and "something else... wow" (Southern Gospel Forward), the music of Isaac Butler is at the forefront of popularity in the modern musical era. From a young age, Isaac was fascinated with folk music, growing up in rural central Kentucky in a family that was rooted in the traditions of shape-note singing, bluegrass, as well as old-time and southern gospel, his work is deeply influenced by his roots of singing and playing with his family, especially his grandmother, Sandy Wilson, who was a wonderful songrwriter. As he grew up, he played in rock and pop bands in high school and eventually was greatly influenced by classical music and new music when he began to study composition at the University of Louisville under Dr. Marc Satterwite, Proffesor William Lampkin and Dr. Yunze Mu.
His wide range of influences and versitilaty have elevated his works to receive great acclaim and commisions from a variety of ensembles and musicians all over the world. His works have been performed at a variety of festivals including Bachfest in Leipzig, Germany, the Louisville New Music Festival, the Indiana University Song Slam, and the Chet Atkins Appriciacion Society in Nashville. His song "I Hope I'm Still on your Mind" performed as the top song on Caleb Coot's award-winning album "Behind the Clouds" and was aired on radio stations as close as the United States to as far as New Zealand.
Isaac is also a gifted performer, his abilities as a vocalist and multi-instumentalist have led him abroad with the internationally renowned Cardianl Singers under the direction of Dr. Kent Hatteberg as well as in several performances with the Louisville Chamber Choir and the Louisville Orcestra with artists such as Eric Whitacre and Andrea Bocelli. Isaac is a pianist and guitarist as well as an avid peformer of several folk instruments including the mandolin, accordion, and banjo. He is also a trained singer, studying under Proffesor Chad Sloan and Dr. Jonathan Retzlaff. Isaac is currently a Junior at the University of Louisville persuing a bachelor's degree in Music and New Media.
